Winstead Avenue Elementary School

Hello Wahoos! This year we are excited to announce that we will have two new staff members that will be joining us from outside of the US. We love being a global school and community! Maria Montenegro Correa will be assisting Señora Andrea and Señor Ciro in the dual language program. She will be co-teaching in our dual language kindergarten and first grade classrooms. She is from Ecuador. Señora Montenegro Correa will be arriving August 3rd with her husband. Mary Catherine Macato will be one of our exceptional children's teachers and she is coming from the Philippines. Ms. Macato's arrival date has not been confirmed yet but it will be in the near future. If you have any new/gently used items that you would be willing to donate to either of these families, we would appreciate it!! Please feel free to drop the items off at the school, any time between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday through Thursday. Our newest staff members will soon be getting off of the airplane here in the USA for the first time with very little luggage, ready to teach your child (our students), so lets please give them a warm welcome and help them turn their new apartments/houses into homes so that they can focus on our kiddos and student learning. Together we can make their their transitions to Rocky Mount a smooth one! Attached is a list of items that will be greatly appreciated along with gift cards to local restaurants or monetary donations. Thank you again in advance!

Winstead Avenue's Open House times are: Thursday August 24th from 11am to 1pm OR from 4pm to 6pm. This is a floating open house, meaning you can come during the designated hours to meet your child's teacher, get bus information, register for power schools, and receive all necessary paperwork and materials for the 2023-2024 school year. We hope to see you then!

Winstead Avenue Elementary will be closed to the public from June 30th until July 9th.
