Good Evening Wahoos, This week at WAVE, we have a lot of fun and exciting events. This week is Read Across America week; we will have dress-up days. If you want your child to participate, please check out the dress-up days on our Facebook and school websites. The book fair begins this week, and I have had the pleasure of taking a sneak peek; I've seen a lot of fun and exciting books. We want all our students to have the opportunity to purchase something. Parents can send cash, set up an eWallet account, or shop online. We will have a statewide tornado drill this Wednesday; please talk with your child regarding appropriate behaviors during practice drills. Lastly, this Friday, March 8, we will have our Mother Figure Dance from 6 to 8. We invite all Mothers, Grandmas, Aunts, cousins, and friends for this exciting event. We had a phenomenal turnout for our Father Figure dance, and I can't wait to see our mothers and students. This event is only for WAVE students; young or older siblings can not attend. With new safety legislation effective March 1, Nash County Public Schools has updated its protocols accordingly. Nash County Public Schools, distinguished as one of six districts in North Carolina to receive the Project AWARE grant, exemplifies commitment to creating a secure educational setting. This grant, provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and managed through the Department of Public Instruction, highlights the district's proactive approach to student safety.

Good Evening Whaoos, This week at WAVE, our 2nd-grade students will take the CogAT beginning Monday, February 26, through Wednesday, February 28. We will have our Black History program on Thursday, a student-cultural activity just for our students. The Book Fair will be held from March 4 through March 8; we will also celebrate Read Across America and have Dr. Suess's dress-up days; more information is forthcoming. Good evening, Wahoos, Thank you to all who came out to STREAM Night. Our 1st graders will perform on Monday, February 19; there are two performance times. Please contact your child's teacher as to which performance time your child is scheduled. Monday begins our "Black History" dress-up week and is as follows. Monday: Scientist Tuesday: Queen/King Wednesday: Athlete Thursday: Superhero Friday: Wear any or all of the following colors: red, green, black, and yellow Lastly, you have one more week to schedule a parent conference, which teachers can do by phone or in person.
